Telehealth Physiotherapy – Online Consults
Online Physiotherapy | Telehealth Consultations Now Available
Telehealth Consultations are now available here at Fountain Gate Physiotherapy.
At this stage we are able to provide consults for those paying privately or through Worksafe.
Although Private Health insurers, TAC and Medicare do not yet provide item numbers for physiotherapy telehealth consults this may change in the future.
Who is telehealth suitable for?
A online consult is suitable for many types of pains and injuries including:
- back pain, neck pain
- acute sport injuries
- GLA:D program participants
- shoulder pain and other arthitic pains.
- also post operative rehabilitation.
During the session you will receive an assessment and provision of education, pain management technqiues and exercise. We will try to provide exercises that do not require any equipment. However if equipment is required you are welcome to come to the clinic to puchase it or we can mail it to your home.
How does it work?
At this stage we are using a safe secure video conferencing program. To begin with you need to call the clinic to make an appointment.
Just prior to the appointment our reception staff will call you to look out for a text message on your mobile phone from your physiotherapist. At the same time they will ask for payment for the consult.
On the text message there is a link for you to select. This link opens a window on your mobile phone where the video consult will occur. Finally you may be asked to allow access to your camera by the window.
The program works on all mobile phones using an internet browser.
What is the cost?
At this stage we are yet to finalise costs. We are aware that you will not be able to claim at this stage via your private health insurance. With this in mind we have adjusted our fees as a result.
How effective is telehealth?
Studies have shown telehealth to be an effective tool for the provision of physiotherapy.
We will be able to make a diagnosis of your issue and provide effective ongoing management.
However, if a visit to the clinic is required your physiotherapist will discuss this with you. Rest assured we have the highest level of hygiene and social distancing.
